Tuned mass damper(TMD)is one of the most widely used techniques for passive control of structures.Pounding tuned mass damper(PTMD)is a passive damping device based on TMD.Based on TMD,the operational principle of PTMD is to add a baffle that restricts the movement of the TMD mass,and place a viscoelastic material on the baffle.The inertial force of the mass and the impact force of the impact baffle are used to damp the structure.Previous research has confirmed that PTMD has a good damping effect,and a strong robustness.This article focuses on the Viscoelastic material-Steel collision mode and damping performance of PTMD.And the vibrationreducing performance of PTMD under free vibration,harmonic vibration or earthquake is analyzed too.The main research includes:(1)The article presents the current research of TMD.And then,it presents the research of PTMD at home and abroad,to clarify the main content and significance of the research.(2)Introducing several classical collision force models and the characteristics of viscoelastic materials,the concept of elastic aftereffect.Designing a Viscoelastic material-Steel collision test to analyze the effects of initial release distance,collision surface,and material thickness on the elastic recovery coefficient or residual deformation rate of the material.(3)Establishing the equation of motion of the structure-PTMD system,and with simulation analysis,the damping performance of the PTMD under free vibration is studied.Designing the test model of the Structure-PTMD,and conducting the damping test of the PTMD device under free vibration.(4)The numerical and experimental analysis of PTMD under harmonic vibration are performed and the damping effect of PTMD with the change of inherent characteristics of the structure is analyzed.(5)Conducting the damping test of PTMD through a simulated vibratory table to obtain the damping performance of PTMD under the three seismic waves.
