Epoxy asphalt is a mixture which consists three parts of epoxy resin,curing agent and matrix asphalt.The curing reaction occurred between epoxy resin and curing agent,the resulting products exhibit three-dimensional mesh structure,and it unable to flow easily due to the binding asphalt particles,which changed the thermoplastic nature of traditional asphalt.Compared with other modified asphalt,epoxy asphalt possess higher strength,stronger corrosion resistance,larger interlayer adhesion,better temperature stability and more excellent anti-fatigue performance.Although epoxy asphalt has so many advantages,the expensive cost greatly limits its application in road engineering.This paper develops a kind of epoxy asphalt with low yield and high performance,in order to provide excellent performance and relatively low-cost asphalt materials for the application of heavy-duty traffic routes.The tensile and drawing tests of epoxy asphalt were conducted and compared with the SBS modified asphalt to obtained the optimum curing agent dosage,when the mass ratio of epoxy resin to curing agent was 1:1,the mixing amount of epoxy resin system was 10%,the resulting epoxy asphalt exhibited excellent performance and good economic,its tensile strength was 0.41 MPa,drawing strength is 5.53 MPa and the elongation at break is 285%.The viscosity-temperature curve was analyzed according to the viscosity test of epoxy asphalt,and it is concluded that with the increase of temperature,the smaller the initial viscosity,the higher the viscosity growth rate obtained.The rheological properties of epoxy asphalt were tested by dynamic shear rheometer,the rutting factor and loss shear modulus decreased with the increase of temperature.Compared with the SBS modified asphalt,the epoxy asphalt has larger rutting factor and less loss shear modulus,at the same temperature,indicating that the high temperature performance and fatigue performance of epoxy asphalt are better than SBS modified asphalt.The high temperature anti-rutting,anti-water damage and low temperature trabecular bending tests of the epoxy asphalt mixture were carried out,and the test results show that the dynamic stability and splitting tensile strength ratio of epoxy asphalt mixture are larger than the SBS modified asphalt mixture,which indicated the epoxy asphalt mixture has excellent high temperature stability and water stability.At the same time,the bending strain of epoxy asphalt mixture is smaller than that of the SBS modified asphalt mixture,but far more than the standard requirements,It shows that the epoxy asphalt mixture has relatively low temperature performance but the adaptability of low temperature is good.The dynamic modulus test of epoxy asphalt mixture was carried out,and the test results show that the dynamic modulus of the epoxy asphalt mixture increase with the decrease of temperature and the increase of frequency.At the same temperature,the epoxy asphalt changes less than the SBS modified asphalt mixture,indicating the internal structure of the epoxy asphalt mixture is more stable.
