The phenomenon of liquid sloshing appears widely in the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering.With the opening of Arctic route,more and more LNG carriers navigate in ice zone of Arctic.Because of the special natural conditions of Arctic,the LNG carriers can easily collide with sea ice,the ice resistance caused by collision will lead to the liquid sloshing in LNG carriers,and violent sloshing may cause tremendous impact load to influence the stability of structure,there are too many accidents which are caused by the inside violent sloshing,so sloshing is a old topic,but sill needs to be explored in depth.Since the liquid sloshing is a problem with strongly non-linear,it can easily fail for traditional grid-based methods to simulate this problem because of the very large deformation of grids.As a kind of mesh-less method,Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics does not depend on any grids and the computation is purely based on a group of discrete points which can move freely.So it can capture the free surface of liquid conveniently;,which is more suitable to treat the problems of large deformation of free-surfaces.In this paper,the numerical model of sloshing tank based on the SPH method is set up and the characteristies of impact loads caused by liquid sloshing are analysed and eompared.On the other hand,the numerical model of ship-ice interaction is established and validated.Finally,the collision of ship and ice are coupled with liquid sloshing to build the numerical model of sloshing caused by the collision of LNG carrier and sea ice.And the concrete contelt is as follows:Firstly,a brief introduction about fundamental principle and numerical method is given in this paper.Secondly,the numerical model of sloshing tank in 2D is set up based on the SPH method and validated with the experimental results,and it 1s compared with the numerical model of commercial CFD software STAR-CCM+ on convergence and CPU efficiency.Based on the rectangular tank,the bulkhead condition are complicated,and the characteristic of impact load caused by sloshing in tanks with different baffles are compared and analysed.Based on above,the numerical model of sloshing tank in 3D is set up by using SPH method.Next,the numerical model of ship-ice interaction is set up,and the model is validated by the comparison with experimental data.Finally,the numerical model of sloshing caused by the collision of LNG carrier and sea ice are built by coupling the collision of ship and ice with liquid sloshing,and impact loads caused by liquid sloshing in different ice class and speeds of LNG carrier are compared and analysed to offer a reference for practical engineering.
