The development of highway engineering has greatly promoted the improvement of social and economic benefits. The engineering cost of highways is one of the indicators directly related to the engineering economy. Its cost preparation and management procedures should have higher standards,in order to further promote China's Economic Growth.Scientific and reasonable evaluation of the performance of project cost management in highway engineering construction, timely decision-making,and improvement of cost control measures are of great significance for improving the level of highway cost management, and are also of great significance for highway engineering construction.Based on the collected status of the various stages of highway engineering construction and the resulting outcome documents, the paper takes the project cost as the entry point, systematically analyzes the characteristics and laws of highway engineering cost, and conducts an in-depth analysis of highway engineering cost management. On this basis, combined with the characteristics and form of performance evaluation, the factors affecting the performance of highway cost management are deeply studied.According to the scientific, comprehensive and systematic principles selected by the evaluation indicators, the performance evaluation index system of highway cost management is constructed.Based on the research status of weight determination at home and abroad, the paper summarizes and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of commonly used index weight determination methods, and proposes the minimum entropy theory for the limitations of common methods for cost management performance evaluation. The effective sub-model is determined based on a certain selection principle, and the discriminant is determined according to the priority of the sub-model,so that the variable is correctly compiled into the corresponding sub-model,and finally the correct variable ordering is given, and the weight of the cost management performance evaluation index can be obtained. In view of the problems existing in the commonly used grade evaluation methods, such as:lack of basis for evaluation grade classification criteria, index weight determination is too subjective, and poor reliability of evaluation results,a performance evaluation model of highway cost management based on projection pursuit is proposed.Based on the sample data, the sample data is mined using the projection pursuit method to obtain more information. And Matlab programming is used to solve the model, and the best projection direction vector is obtained to obtain the performance comprehensive projection value. Then, based on Fisher's optimal segmentation principle, the performance level grading standard is determined, and then the performance evaluation level of highway cost management is determined. Finally, the paper selects the A2 contract section of Hechuan Yan Road Reconstruction Project as an engineering research example, combs the current situation of the cost management of the project, and evaluates the performance of its cost management based on the actual project completion and formation. The results of the document are analyzed and compared. The comparison results show that the evaluation model established in this paper is scientific, reasonable and feasible, and can be directly applied to engineering practice.
