The excitation system of synchronous generator is one of the most important control system of generator.Its control performance not only affects the stability of generator operation,but also directly determines the power quality of power grid.With the increasing number of power electronic devices in the system,the power system becomes more and more complex,and the control algorithm and hardware topology of the excitation control system are also adapted to it.Therefore,it is of great significance to the design and research of a new excitation controller.This paper introduces the function of excitation system to power system and the application status of excitation controller.Aiming at the deficiency of existing excitation controller,a new design scheme of excitation controller based on dual-core digital signal processor(DSP)chip with control rate accelerator(TMS320F28377D)is proposed.Firstly,by comparing different types of excitation systems and their rectification modes in engineering application,the static thyristor self-shunt excitation system with simple structure and stable reliability is selected as the research object.The control scheme of PID regulation and PSS additional control is adopted to improve the phase lag characteristic and stability of fast excitation system.Then the hardware circuit and program design of the excitation controller are completed according to the function and performance requirements of the excitation controller according to the relevant regulations.Finally,based on the prototype,static and dynamic tests and PSS tests of 5 kW synchronous generators are completed on the platform of single machine infinite bus system connected by analog lines.The test results show that the hardware and software design of the excitation controller is correct,and the performance index meets and surpasses the national standard.
