| Official Development Assistance(ODA)refers to the resource allocation,flow and transfer of the productive factors such as large scale,systematic capital,technology and knowledge from sovereign country to other developing countries.As a typical model of economic diplomacy,it has important strategic significance for the furtherance of the national interests of donors and recipient countries,promoting world peace and development as well as achieving the goal of sustainable development of the United Nations.As the world’s largest developing country and emerging aid country,China has become an important force in the field of international development assistance cooperation.As urbanization continues to increase and exacerbate in the world,urban poverty problem has been increasingly prominent,in the UN Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs,2015-2030)successor to UN Millennium Development Goals(MDGs,2000-2015),the goal 11,“Make cities and human settlements inclusive,safe,resilient and sustainable” has become the current and future long term strategic task of international community.Leading donor countries in the world,have established foreign urban development assistance strategy as an important part of official development assistance(ODA)system,The United States,Japan and other countries,have been carried out large number of urban development assistance since the establishment of their foreign aid agencies in the sixties of last century.This paper makes policy recommendations on the sustainable development of China’s foreign urban aid,based on the cases study of the urban aid strategies of the United States and Japan,thus,suggests a need for subsequent research on China’s international urban development assistance. |
