Local buckling deformation of column flange and shear failure of connection region are the key problems affecting the flexural behavior of box column-steel beam connections.Overall, lots of fabrications of column-to-beam connections has been proposed by scholars to solve the above problems. However, the existing joint fabrications are partly complex and weak in welding heat affected zone.So a kind of connection fabrication with good performance, simple construction and easy assembly is needed.Connection with through plate has clear loading transmission, reliable performanee, simple structure and convenient assembly.Based on existing research, considering the concrete filled steel tubular column joints, box column joints, fully welded and bolted connections, this paper propose several kinds of connections with through plate, and conducts the following research work on their flexural performance:(1)Five specimens of circular concrete filled steel tubular(CFST)joints with through plates were tested under cyclic loading. The effects of different structure on failure modes, flexural capacity, stiffness and ductility of the connections were studied.(2)Several finite element model of the connections were established using ABAQUS and compared with experimental results.Based on the test results,a new kind of locally reinforced connection and a square CFST joints with through plate are proposed. The parameter analysis is carried out by using the verified finite element model to study the influence of the through plate and the angle of its extended ear plate on the flexural behavior of the square CFST column joints.(3)Based on the results of the research on square CFST column joints,an box columnH-beam joint is proposed. The force transfer mechanism, stress distribution, failure mode, flexural capacity and flexural stiffness of joints are analyzed by non-linear finite element method. The parametric analysis of joints is carried out to study the effects of axial compression ratio, thickness of through plates and thickness of column flange et-al on the flexural behavior of the connections.(4)In order to simplify the assembly and solve the problem that the welding quality is difficult to guarantee, four kinds of bolt-connected connections, with different construction forms, with through plate are proposed. The load transfer mechanism, failure mode, bearing capacity and stiffness of each kind of connection are analyzed by non-linear finite element method. The influence of different parameters on the flexural behavior of them is studied by parameter analysis.(5)The results of experimental study and finite element analysis of through-plate connections with different fabrications are summarized. And reasonable engineering suggestions are given at the end of the paper.
