In power system,power distribution network connects to the user directly and plays a vital role to the user’s normal power supply.A large number of facts show that about 80% of power outages are caused by shortage of the distribution network power supply reliability.Therefore,evaluating the reliability of distribution network rapidly and accurately,and pointing out fault location so as to realizing improvement has very important significance.Firstly,this paper uses simulation method to evaluate the reliability of distribution network on the basis of topology structure through outage rate index and outage time index.Considering impact that all components of radial main feeder distribution network cause and counting massive amounts of data can get evaluation result.Evaluation result shows that compared with branch feeder the outage rate of main feeder is lower and outage time is longer.Due to simulation method needs huge amounts of data to obtain a more accurate assessment result,this method usually spend more time to complete the evaluation.At the same time,this method unable to realize fault location.Secondly,this paper presents the method based on security region tree in order to improving speed and precision of evaluation and achieving the fault region position.The method divides regions according to switches control principle,equals distribution network to security region tree and calculates three types outage time of load points to realize fault location.Through the simulation analysis,illustrates the precision from both load points index and system index.Lastly,the paper designs a software system based on the security region tree in order to facilitate users and compare various evaluation methods.The platform of this software system is MATLAB GUI.The system has the advantages of operation simply,function multiply and interface tidily.Through the application instance can prove the practicability of system and advantages of this method.This software system is an effective tool to evaluate the reliability of distribution network.
