As a carrier of the traditional Chinese cultural heritage, the traditional villages create a harmonious and symbiotic sustainable living in the ecological wisdom such as the location and layout mode of "Heaven and Man" and the social network relationship dominated by "blood border" and "geography".The environment and internal space structure have been in a stable and balanced development state, and the external disturbance is not enough to destroy this balance. From this perspective, the traditional village itself has the natural advantage of building resilience, and it has a strong adaptability to external disturbances. However, with the acceleration of urbanization, traditional villages have shown great incompatibility under the impact of “modernity”.The fragmentation of the material space of the village and the aging of the social structure have made the village space structure face the danger of collapse. In addition,in the past,in the development of traditional village protection, the focus was placed on “protection”,which made many traditional villages face the danger of “protective decline”,neglecting the intrinsic value of space;or only materially repairing the village space. It neglects the key element of the “humanity” of the main body of the village culture. Both affect the sustainable development of traditional villages.Based on the above background, this paper takes the resilience feature of the traditional village space structure as the starting point from the perspective of resilience theory, and studies the spatial structure characteristics of the village space resource conservation and utilization state to construct the traditional village spatial structure optimization strategy.Firstly, the paper sorts out the related research and practice progress of resilience theory, traditional village protection and village space structure, and summarizes the characteristics of the four characteristics of " Resilience " : "Robustness,Redundancy,Resourcefulness and Rapidity".On the basis of theoretical research,it analyzes the characteristics of the traditional village social ecosystem under the influence of “modernity” and demonstrates the “applicability” of the resilience theory to traditional villages; At the same time, the "resilienttraditional village-space structure" framework is constructed from the two aspects of "element association" and "action association";In terms of “elemental associations”,“ecological resilience” and “social resilience” are respectively related to the explicit cultural elements “cultural landscape” and the implicit structural element “social capital” of the village spatial structure; In terms of "action-related",the characteristics of the organization of the spatial structure elements of the village are related to the " Robustness,Redundancy, and Resourcefulness " resilience characteristics proposed by Bruneau.Innovatively put forward the characteristics of “Robustness,Redundancy, and Resourcefulness” that can represent the role of the spatial structure elements of the village(the allocation of spatial resources)to reflect the resistance, adaptability and transformation ability of the village space system in the face of disturbances. The two explain the resilience of the traditional village space structure. Then, based on the construction of the association framework, the indicators that can characterize the “Robustness,Redundancy, and Resourcefulness” resilience characteristics of the village space structure are determined. The analytic hierarchy process(AHP)is used to construct the traditional village spatial structure resilience evaluation system. On the basis of the above research, qualitative and quantitative research methods are used to analyze the spatial structural resilience of traditional villages in southern Sichuan.By comparing the toughness levels of different villages, the advantages and weaknesses of the structural resilience of village spatial structure are summarized. Finally,on the basis of the investigation and evaluation analysis, based on the traditional village space structure concept, the traditional village space structure optimization framework is constructed from the two aspects of “morphological guidance” and “factor function control”;“morphological guidance” is adopted, and a single blueprint development is abandoned. The formulation of the target follows the principle of dynamic adaptive planning.According to the development of different village spaces,it proposes three objectives of “sequential contraction, space restoration and spatial growth”,which are suitable for the development of the spatial form of traditional villages in southern Sichuan. The spatial structure optimization strategy aiming at “maintaining the ability of the village to resist the dry space, improving the adaptability of the village space, and cultivating the transformation capacity of the village space” is constructed to jointly improve the resilience level of the village spatial structure.Based on the theory of resilience, this paper constructs the association framework of “resilient-traditional village-spatial structure” and constructs an index system that quantitatively identifies the resilience level of the spatial structure of the village, with some theoretical perspectives. At the same time,in the context of the current “revitalization of the countryside”,strengthening the integration of traditional villages and resilience theory is an important direction for the transformation of traditional village protection development and also the expansion of the resilience rural sector. This paper hopes to provide reference for the protection and development planning of traditional villages and the practice of resilience construction by exploring ways and strategies to improve the structural resilience of traditional villages.
