With the development of Yemen's economy,road construction will play an increasingly important role in promoting its regional economy.Due to many factors such as high temperature and low rainfall in Yemen and unsatisfactory construction quality,asphalt pavement cracks,pits,ruts and shifts often occur on new highways.This paper selects the types of asphalt and asphalt mixture suitable for the region through indoor test and theoretical analysis,and proposes corresponding improvement measures.Firstly,the paper investigates the causes of road damage,analyzes and discusses the causes of local asphalt pavement failures It was concluded that the high temperature time,improper selection of asphalt types and unreasonable combination of pavement structure are the main reasons for the rutting failures;The asphalt PG grading method determines the high temperature of the asphalt pavement design;compares and tests the commonly used No.70 matrix asphalt and SBS modified asphalt in the indoor test,and analyzes its high temperature index.The test results show that the commonly used No.70 matrix asphalt in Yemen is difficult to meet.In order to improve the anti-rutting performance of the road,the surface layer should adopt SBS modified asphalt.Then,the paper selects the local common grading,and refers to the recommended grading of the relevant asphalt pavement specifications in China,carries out the indoor mix ratio test,determines the optimal asphalt content,and produces the rutting board to carry out the rutting test.The test results show that the existing grading resistance to rutting is obviously insufficient,and the grading and mixing ratio improvement measures are proposed.Finally,the pavement adopts the AASHTO 1993 design specification to carry out structural check calculation for a physical project.
