As a clean and efficient energy source,hydropower has been vigorously developed in China.The practical operating experience shows that the external load change may lead to unstable operation for hydropower in isolated state.If the governor parameter setting is unreasonable,the grid frequency will fluctuate abnormally.This can affect the normal operation of electrical equipments which are connected to the power grid.Therefore,it is necessary to simulate the model of hydropower unit in isolated grid operation and analyze the system's stability.In this paper,the mathematical models of hydraulic turbine governing system are established.Then the dynamic process simulation software of hydraulic turbine governing system is developed.It is discussed in detail for the dynamic process characteristics of the hydropower unit in isolated grid state.These works provide decision-making reference for control parameter selection for hydropower unit in isolated network operation.Firstly,the mathematical model of each module in the hydraulic turbine governing system including governor,actuator,water diversion system,turbine and generator is derived.And the model is numerically calculated according to the boundary conditions.Secondly,the mathematical model of each module in hydraulic turbine governing system is differentiated.According to the characteristics of software development,the simulation software of transition process is developed on the C++ platform.The load simulation of a power station is carried out with the developed simulation software.The correctness of the simulation software model is proved by comparing the software simulation data with the recorded field data of hydropower station.Then,the frequency modulation test process of this hydropower unit is simulated using this simulation software.And a set of appropriate PID control parameters are found for the unit.Finally,the simulation software is mainly used to analyze the dynamic process of the sudden load increase of the hydropower unitin isolated operation.With comparisions of the simulation results,a set of suitable PID parameters are selected for the power station unit in isolated network operation.
