The semi-rigid base course is the main type of road pavement structure in China,and it has high strength and integrity.In recent years,with the continuous increase in traffic volume,the speed of damage to semi-rigid basement roads has also accelerated,and many road surfaces have cracked.On the other hand,the disposal of waste plastics and the problem of secondary utilization also need to be solved.Based on the feasibility of replacing the coarse aggregate in waste water stabilized macadam by waste plastics,this paper deeply explores the influence of surface roughness,particle size and shape of waste plastic on the mixture,and finds the best feature of the waste plastic instead of coarse aggregate..In this paper,the effective methods for suppressing cracks in semi-rigid substrates are listed.The effects of coarse aggregate properties on the mechanical properties of the composites are discussed.The failure mechanism of semi-rigid substrates is analyzed.By setting different surface roughness,different particle size and different shapes of waste plastics,the mechanical properties test of the mixture test pieces was completed,and the influence of the geometric characteristics of waste plastics on the mechanical properties of the mixture was investigated.The research shows that the compressive strength and splitting strength of the specimens with surface rough plastic aggregates are 5% and 10% higher than those of the specimens with smooth plastic aggregates.The specimens with the diameter of 20 mm are added.The compressive strength,splitting strength and flexural strength are 15.0%,19.4%,and 15.62% higher than those of the sample with the plastic particle size of 6 mm.The compressive strength and splitting strength of the test piece when the dumbbell-shaped plastic is added.And the flexural strength is 13.17%,15.53%,and 8.33% higher than that of the test piece with cylindrical plastic..The above results prove that the characteristics of waste plastics have significant effects on the mechanical properties of the mixture.The waste plastic with rough surface can improve the strength of the mixture.In a certain particle size range,the use of waste plastic with larger particle size can improve the mechanical properties of the mixture.When selecting the shape of waste plastic,you can choose the “inset” waste.plastic.On the other hand,the test piece with a rough surface,a large particle size,and a dumbbell-shaped aggregate has a larger tensile-compression ratio and better toughness.
