Microparticle separation technology has a wide range of applications in many fields, such as chemical engineering, bioengineering and micromechanical systems.Conventional particle separation methods have trouble dealing with certain circumstances, and the use of ultrasonic technology can avoid some of the disadvantages of the above methods.Based on the research of Professor Hu Junhui's team, this paper proposes a new method for separating tiny particles based on the combined effect of in-plane and out-of-plane vibration of cantilever plates. The ultrasonic transducer is made by bolting two annular piezoelectric ceramic sheets with two aluminum plates, and the aluminum plate fixed to one end of the transducer combines in-plane vibration and out-of-plane vibration to separate particles. To excite this mode of vibration, the two piezoelectric sheets are aligned in opposite polarization directions and subjected to an AC voltage. In the experiment, the vibration of the working area was measured using a Doppler laser vibrometer. The microparticle mixture used in this experiment was a mixture of glass spheres, corn granules, yeast granules, shrimp eggs, salt, moss rose seeds, and quartz sand.In-plane vibration and out-of-plane vibration existed in the working area of the aluminum plate, and it was found that the separation phenomenon of the particles in the working area can be sufficiently explained. We also found that the separation efficiency of the particles is highest at the resonance frequency, and the vibration amplitude of the plate also affects the separation efficiency.Under resonance conditions, different mixtures also have different separation efficiencies. The main innovation in the work of this project is to propose a composite effect that can use in-plane vibration and out-of-plane vibration to drive the separation of microparticles in the air.The equipment in this experiment does not include rotating parts, and the separation process can be completed quickly. The number of separated particles is an order of magnitude higher than the previous method.
