The continuous development of Architectural Science and technology and computer technology has created infinite possibilities for the breakthrough of architectural shape.Irregular space free-form surface is more and more favored by architects because of its unique architectural artistic expression and strong visual impact. This trend has also brought about new breakthroughs and developments in building structures, resulting in free-form surface space grid structures.Although the free-form surface space grid structure meets the requirements of various architectural functions, its non-linearity and irregularity pose great challenges to the work of structural designers. In the field of building structure design, although the traditional computer aided design technology has been improved day by day,the parametric modeling technology is not mature. At present, the widely used software such as 3D3 S,SAP2000,Midas and so on can only realize the parametric modeling of spatial grid structure on regular surface such as plane, cylinder and sphere. But for free-form surface, because its geometric shape can not be accurately expressed or fitted by analytic functions, traditional software can not be applied. At the same time, for the space mesh structure on free-form surface, the difficulty and cost of manual modeling are greatly increased, and the accuracy of the structure can not be guaranteed. Therefore,it is necessary to innovate the parametric modeling technology of space mesh structure based on free-form surface.Research.In recent years,BIM has been called a new tool to replace CAD.It is the second revolution of construction industry after the abandonment of drawing board by CAD.However, the development and popularization of BIM technology in China are quite unbalanced, and the application of BIM in structural specialty lags far behind those in construction specialty and construction management. It is necessary to strengthen the application of structural modeling in BIM technology, realize the collaborative work between structural specialty and other specialties, and avoid the error of information transmission between specialties and the structural model caused by repeated modification of architectural model.Repeated modeling.Revit,as one of BIM’s important modeling software, has become a hotspot of applied research because of its friendly operation interface, convenient usability and parametric design concept. In this paper, the parametric modeling method of free-form surface space mesh structure based on Revit is studied:Firstly, through the data interface between Rhino and Revit, the initial free-form surface built on the surface modelling software of architecture specialty is transferred to Revit.Secondly,an algorithm for generating spatial grid structure is developed on Dynamo,a visual programming plug-in of Revit.Firstly, the structural form of spatial grid structure is determined, and the model control parameters of spatial grid structure are set to control the changes of the number and thickness of nodes. Then, according to the above control parameters, the free-form surface is meshed and the uniformity of the grid is optimized to obtain the corresponding spatial nodes. Finally, the spatial nodes are logically grouped by the preset algorithm and arranged according to certain rules. The law automatically connects the nodes to form a three-dimensional model of spatial grid structure.Thirdly, the model is imported into the finite element analysis software SAP2000 to analyze the validity of the calculation model.By using this method, the parameters can drive the model change, and the parameters and models can be saved together.By simply changing the parameters of the model,a new model can be established, and the parameterization of the model can be realized, which greatly improves the efficiency and accuracy of the modeling.
