Study On Preparation Of SBS Adhesives And Their Properties

Styrene-butadiene-styrene block-copolymer(SBS)is a kind of elastomer with excellent performances,and thus it can be applied in many fields,such as adhesives,composites and so on.Moreover,SBS is a kind of adhesives with high solid content,low viscosity,good initial adhesion,easily processing and comprehensive performance,etc.In the paper,the effects of star-type and line-type SBS on the properties of the adhesives have been screened and examined,also including the types and dosages of tackifying resin,the types and proportion of mixed solvents,the adding of strengthening agent and other influencing factors.As a result,two kinds of special adhesives have been prepared by optimizing the conditions,namely a kind of environment-friendly SBS adhesives and a kind of transparent,good for low polarity plastic bonding adhesives.Specifically,the study results are shown as follows:1.A kind of environment-friendly adhesives can be obtained when the following conditions : the mass ratio of SBS 792 and SBS 411 resin is 1.4:1.0 and the weight proportion of tackifying resin,namely m(rosin resin): m(modified terpene resin): m(C9 petroleum resin)is 5:2:3.The adhesive has higher bonding strength,appropriate viscosity and easy processing.And the bonding strength of the adhesives would be the largest if the proportion of tackifying resin and SBS resin changes to 1.4.Furthermore,the dissolution mechanism of some mixed solvents on SBS resins and tackifying resin was also studied in detail.It was found that the adhesives had higher tensile shearing strength if choosing the volume ratio 1:3:4 of cyclohexane,ethyl acetate and #120 solvent naphtha.It was concluded that an environment-friendly adhesive formulation with good performances and processing can be obtained,whose properties have passed National Standard GB18583-2008,namely Indoor Decorating and Refurbishing Materials.Limit of Harmful Substances of Adhesives.2.A kind of transparent SBS adhesives for application of plastic substrate can be obtained when SBS A with the styrene content of 40% is chosen as main components of the adhesives,which has good bonding strength.It is found that the largest bonding strength of the adhesives can be obtained when the proportion of modified rosin resin and hard resin A is 3:1,the mass ratio of tackifying resin and SBS resin is 1.2:1.0.Moreover,the effects of mixed solvents on interaction mechanism of SBS resin and tackifying resin were also studied;and it is found that a kind of transparent,suitable for low polar surface and having good bonding strength adhesives can be obtained if the volume ratio of toluene,cyclohexane and #120 solvent naphtha is 1:1:2.As a result,a kind of plastic adhesives is prepared with shallow color and transparency without surface treatment,which has indeed solved such a difficult adhesion problem for polyolefin substrates.
