The shipping industry is a high fuel consumption industry.With the pressure of energy crisis and environmental protection,the shipping industry gradually grows toward the direction of low energy consumption,high efficiency and green environmental protection.The purpose of diesel engine waste heat utilization is to improve the economy during operation and reduce the fuel consumption.In this paper,the ship waste heat utilization system can recovery the high-temperature exhaust gases in the exhaust pipe and recycle low-grade heat source for secondary use which makes full use of waste heat resources.In this paper,firstly,the physical properties of thermoelectric modules and the characteristics of waste heat utilization of diesel engines are studied in detail.Based on the basic principle of thermoelectric power generation,the heat transfer process of thermoelectric power generating module is analyzed,and the ways of thermoelectric power generation from waste heat of diesel engine are proposed which contain direct thermoelectric power generation and indirect thermoelectric power generation.Two kinds of waste-heat thermoelectric power generation system and device structures are constructed.Secondly,the test model of direct thermoelectric power generation is established and the thermoelectric power generation test bench is designed.The output characteristics of power generation under different temperature difference are obtained through experiments.The experimental data are analyzed and the power of direct thermoelectric power generators is calculated.In addition,based on FLUENT software,the simulation method of fluid-solid coupling is used to simulate the temperature distribution of exhaust pipe and thermoelectric power generating module through thermodynamics analysis.The calculation model based on thermoelectric module HZ-20 of thermoelectric power generation is established,and the output power of thermoelectric power generation at the same speed is obtained.The simulation data andnumerical calculation data are compared and the influencing factors are studied.This paper calculates the power generation capacity of the thermoelectric power generation device and makes economic analysis.Based on theoretical research,experimental analysis and simulation,this paper proves the feasibility and economy of thermoelectric power generating module in ship diesel engine application which is beneficial to reduce fuel consumption of ship diesel engine,reduce transportation cost and improve carrying capacity.
