As the higher and higher requirement of comfort for vehicle,the relative complaints become more and more by the end-users.Accordingly the launch vibration(judder)is specially focused during vehicle launch.As the very important component of manual transmission,clutch transfers the power from engine to transmission in the powertrain system.The clutch makes a pivotal role on the smooth launch and shifting.It will caused the uncomforting or complaints from the driver during launch,if the vehicle has obviously vibration during clutch normal engagement.It will be studied for the launch judder on manual transmission with the clutch products.It is defined the phenomenon of launch judder and the criteria of judder evaluation.It is also created and analyzed of the basic judder modeling.According to the modeling analysis,it can be confirmed that the main reasons for judder can be found from the characteristics of engine and transmission input shaft speed.Mainly there are 3 types or directions for judder analysis in powertrain.Considering the clutch side,there are mainly 7 reasons related to launch judder.Focus on 3 key clutch geometric parameters for the launch judder from actual vehicle measurement.These clutch parameters could be the direction of the optimization solutions.The judder issue is analyzed with the total clutch system by testing,simulation and optimization to solve the judder problem.According to the simulation result,it can be optimized by improving the clutch disc cushion deflection,clutch finger run-out and lift off parallelism.It is confirmed that the optimization and influence of clutch parameters to launch judder,combined with the actual requirements.Additionally the clutch characteristics measure rig is also set-up to measure the clutch parameters.This is also confirmed that the simulation optimization solutions are correct and effectual by the vehicle testing results.This study could provide the relative method and simulation modeling for similar launch judder issue in the future.Ultimately it is confirmed the validity and feasibility of actual optimization solutions with the vehicle tests.The vehicle launch judder can be solved by the clutch parameters.
