Parabolic cylindrical antenna is an important form of reflector antennas. As a mechatronic equipment, structural factors of an antenna often have adverse effects on its electromagnetic performance, such as gain decrease and side lobe level elevation. In practical engineering, these structural factors inevitably have a certain degree of randomness, resulting in random fluctuations of the electromagnetic performance and seriously affecting the reliability and robustness of the antenna. It is necessary to study the integrated structural-electromagnetic analysis and optimization design problems of the reflector antennas.According to the existing literature, there have been some research results on the integrated structural-electromagnetic analysis and optimization design for circular parabolic antennas.Little research has been conducted for parabolic cylindrical antennas. In this paper, based on previous research results, taking a 15 m parabolic cylindrical antenna as a typical example, the electromechanical synthesis simulation and optimization design method for cylindrical antennas is studied. This work provides theoretical support and guidance for the design of parabolic cylindrical antennas. The main contents include:1.Based on Sammi's calculation model for parabolic cylindrical antennas considering the ununiformed distribution of surface random errors,a computer program is developed for computing various electromagnetic performance indexes for parabolic cylindrical antennas by using the Matlab software. The influence of reflector errors on the radiation performance is studied through numerical examples.A parameterized finite element model for the 15 m antenna structure is constructed.A method and corresponding flowchart for integrated structural-electromagnetic simulation of cylindrical antennas is proposed. The method is implemented for the 15 m antenna by using Matlab and Ansys.2.Considering the performance requirements of the antenna,an integrated structuralelectromagnetic optimization model for cylindrical antennas is constructed where the cross-section dimensions of the supporting frame of the antenna are taken as design variables. The implementation process is given in detail and the optimal design of the 15 m antenna is obtained as an example.3.Considering randomness of the dimension parameters of antenna structures,an uncertainty analysis approach for computing the mean and variance values of the electromagnetic performance indexes is given by using Kriging model and the Gaussian quadrature technique. Then,a robust optimization model and its implementation process for cylindrical antennas is proposed. As an example, the model and method is applied to the 15 m antenna and the optimal results are obtained and discussed.
