With the building of high-speed railway,China's electric locomotive operating mileage and quantity increased year by year.As a core component of electric locomotive and EMU,the traction transformer is related to the safe operation of the locomotive safety,and the thermal management is the key factor in the safe operation of the transformers?The plate fin heat exchanger is used to cool the high temperature oil of the high power locomotive and EMU traction transformers.In this paper,based on the characteristics of the plate fin heat exchanger of the high power traction transformers,the heat transfer principle and calculation method of plate fin heat exchanger were discussed,the flow characteristic of heat exchanger with different plate fin is discussed,and the characteristics of plate fin heat exchangers with different flow modes was analyzed.The electric locomotive transformer plate fin radiator was designed through theoretical analysis method.The plate fin radiator test bed was set up.The thermal performance of the plate fin radiator was test on the test-bed set up.The characteristics of heat transfer were discussed when 15%of heat exchanger ventilation area was blocked.When the ventilation side of the radiator was blocked by 15%,the decrease of heat dissipation is less than 15%.The heat transfer characteristics of serrated fin used in the oil side and the wavy fin used in the airside were simulated through the CFD numerical simulation technology in this paper.Meanwhile,the thermal performance test and reliability test of the radiator were done,the deviation of heat dissipation was in less 5%between the numerical analysis and test data,and the deviation of heat transfer coefficient was in less than 10%.The test results met the design requirements.
