With the fast urbanization progress in China, large and medium-sized cities generally have dense population.Due to the limited areas for urban constructions, the lands available for primary school campuses are scarce. To ensure normal educational activities and meet the demands of a growing number of school children, campus activity space has been diminishing. The fact is that primary school students have been complaining over their campus activity spaces by saying "there is no space to play around","too few gaming facilities","the space is too far away",and "it's boring".Therefore, this paper probes into the way of diversifying primary school campus activity spaces and improving campus activity quality in the face of limited construction lands. The research content mainly includes:The author conducts systematic investigation on primary schools within Wuchang District in Wuhan where the author lived and attended school for years with detailed analysis on the campus activity space of three typical schools in Wuchang District by collecting information, conducting field survey and interviews and data analysis of the questionnaire.By referring to the traits of primary school campuses in Wuhan,it analyzes the use subjects and the space objects of activity spaces, including the impact of primary school students' staged development traits on activities as well as the use traits and influence factors of activity spaces, alongside elaborations of every space unit. The collected data of questionnaires would be put into SPSS for factor analysis and correlation analysis so as to study primary school students' preferences and behavioral intentions in terms of campus activity spaces. The acquired correlation factors could act as references to the study on the multi-dimensional design strategies for primary school campus activity spaces. The multi-dimensional concept could be incorporated into the designing of primary school campus activity spaces, followed by discussions of relevant design strategies from the perspectives of the multi-dimensional functions of primary school activity spaces and the multi-dimensional space units, hence providing strategic help to the designing of primary school campus activity spaces in densely populated urban areas.
