For centries,the West World has sawn lots of campusplannings of different styles—the cultivated enclosuredcourtyard of Oxford and Cambridge,the formal"InstituteCountry"of University,the amalgamation of the regular lay outand picturesque architecture in the of Berkeley and the hugeindividual architecture of Canada University……But,Whateverthe form is,the construction of external activity space,whichtakes on the function of traffic,study,relaxation,aestheticapprecition,atc,which should get more notice,is often neglected.Recent years,under the guildline of advancing the nationwith science and technology,we have increased the interjectionto colledge.At present,many colledges are enlarging theirschoolyards or developing new ones.However,the constructionof external activity space doesn't get more appreciation.It's alsoregrectable to be lacking of the recognition to external activityspace in the literature of campus design.How we should feelvalue and use the external activity space,which is the maincomponent of campus environment,isn't talked about in someinterrelated information either.This article looks forward to explore a kind of campusspace environment for future and make the comprehension ofeducation embodied really with the view of humanism and onthe basis of summarizing others'research achievement,operatingthe theory and method of the relative fields,meanlwhilecombining the actural examples.This article started with researching the higher education'sdevelopment and campus evolution at home and abord,therebysummarized the research achievements of the relative field ofcampus plan.Whereafter,this article is to adapt to therequirement of inter course of today's higher education and tomeet kinds of needs of teachers and students of campus,bydiscussing the function of external activity space and spacespirit futher,this article points out several factors which affectedexternal activity space of campus—natural conditions,culturaltradition,scale and people,atc,and thus specific ways to mouldexternal activity space of compus,such as the consideration ofglobal composition,the making of roads and circulation,thetransition and conversion between architecture space andexternal activity space,and the corresponding detail design.
