After Trump came into power,he publicly announced that the United States would pursue an "Energy Dominance" strategy, hailing the potential of exports of fossil fuels to the whole world. The transition to the Trump Administration brought with it numerous energy policy reforms, and reaffirmed a new direction which called"New Energy Realism".In essence,"New Energy Realism" follows the roadmap that the US unleashes energy resources and benefit from increased exports by promoting innovation over regulation.By promoting "New Energy Realism",the US would enjoy important geopolitical benefits from increased domestic oil and natural gas production,as well as proactively leverage these resources to its diplomatic advantage Under the top-level policy design, the US "New Energy Realism" follows the inherent logic of maintaining hegemonic structural interests and hegemonic institutional benefits in the global hegemonic system.Under the strategic execution, the US "New Energy Realism" aims at EU countries,Russia, the Middle East,East Asia and some other countries as implement paths in the international energy system. Therefore, the US "New Energy Realism" pursues an expansion path in energy with the highest purpose of pragmatism, which is an alternative to the "New Energy Liberalism"pursued by the Obama Administration with international cooperation as the core, and also a transformation and upgrading of the "Energy Realism" pursued by the Bush Administration with energy independence as its coreIn view of the crucial position of the United States in the global energy landscape, the change of American energy policy to "New Energy Realism" will inevitably have a broad and far-reaching impact on the international energy system. The current international energy supply and demand pattern, international energy structure, international energy price mechanism, international energy geopolitics and international energy transformation governance will all face pressure to change. In addition, the Trump Administration's energy policy will also have an important impact on China's energy security. It will change the supply and demand pattern, trade model, price mechanism, geopolitics, and climate governance in Sino-US energy relations. As a result,China needs be vigilant about possible changes in the international energy system and Sino-US energy relations, and make strategic predictions and response plans.
