In the 21 st century,people have a stronger desire to use miniaturized,high-speed,convenient and low-cost goods,and the term "all-optical network" merged.At present,in the process of optical signal transmission,there must be electrical signal converted to optical signal and then converted to electrical signal,which must greatly affect the rate of optical signal transmission.Optical switch plays an important role as a signal conversion in the all-optical network,because it is similar to a kind of "traffic hub" in our lives.Without it,the entire optical network would be paralyzed.Consequently,the in-depth study of optical switch has become popular increasingly.With the advent of big data,the fundamental mode optical switch matrix can not meet the needs of large-scale information exchange.Moreover,the cost of making optical switch matrix is too high and the procedure is time-consuming,which makes an influence on the development of optical switch to a great extent.Therefore,the simulation design of optical switch matrix is critical.This thesis studies the temperature characteristic of optical switch by optimizing the optical switch unit,and then the optimized optical switch unit is simulated on a large scale silicon-based optical switch chip.The main research contents of this thesis are as follows:(1)The MZI optical switch unit is studied and optimized.The MZI optical switch is simulated and optimized by the software of optical waveguide design and the optical field distribution is simulated,the polarization dependent loss is 0.0023 d B.Meanwhile,the semi-high sensitivity of two kinds of SOI materials’ s Ring optical switches,Single bus coupling Ring Resonator(SBCRR)and Dual bus coupling Ring Resonator(DBCRR),are researched,and then the SBCRR Resonator has better performance by comparison and analysis.(2)The influence of temperature on the performance of MZI optical switch and MRR optical switch is analyzed by numerical calculation,and the variation curve of resistance versus temperature and thermal control voltage versus temperature are obtained,then the temperature characteristic of optical switch is analyzed.For the MZI type optical switch,the adjusted thermal control voltage is about 15 m V for each temperature change of 1°C,and about 26.5 m V for the MRR type optical switch.(3)The number of optical switch units,insertion loss and crosstalk characteristics of six common optical switch network arrays are compared.Besides,the advantages,disadvantages and applicability of six optical switch topologies are compared and analyzed.(4)A large scale simulation of Mach-Zehnder Interferometer optical switch is carried out by using Optisystem optical simulation software.For MZI optical switch,Banyan and Crossbar Network topologies are simulated in 8×8 Large scale Silicon based optical exchange chip and 16×16 Large scale Silicon based optical exchange chip by using Si O2 material,and the output spectra are obtained.In addition.The Banyan Network Matrix of16×16 large scale optical switch chip material has better performance than that of silicon dioxide by comparison and analysis.
