With the deepening influence of globalization around the world, different urban cultures and urban constructions around the world are gradually being renewed and reorganized under the background of globalization and localization. The phenomenon of urban assimilation is becoming increasingly prominent. However, cities are not only affected by globalization but also have local characteristics.Under the dual influence of globalization and localization, whether the passenger flow characteristics of subway stations between different cities will show more and more commonalities,or whether there are more personalities,it is worth our in-depth exploration.Today, the subway,as an important means of transportation for daily travel activities, records the general rules of people’s travel. With the widespread application of smart cards in the field of public transportation,it has become one of the most popular tools for analyzing human behavior and public transportation systems.Based on the time series data of passenger flow, this paper makes a comparative study on the characteristics of passenger flow changes at subway stations in Shenzhen and Shanghai.First of all,the related researches on domestic and international comparisons of cities, smart card data and travel behavior, site passenger flow characteristics and surrounding environment, and spatio-temporal behavior based on feature decomposition are defined. The research started to construct the framework of the thesis based on passenger flow characteristics.Secondly, based on the existing theories and research methods, the passenger flow characteristics of Shenzhen and Shanghai are extracted, and the sites are classified according to the passenger flow characteristics.According to the classification results, the article is divided from group common sites, group individual sites, urban common sites and urban individual sites to analyze the characteristics of passenger flow in the actual sites of the two cities. Finally, based on the POI data of the built environment around the station, the location of the city, and the location of the rail transit network, the similarities and differences of the passenger flow characteristics of the stations are understood. The results show that the time distribution of passenger flows at subway stations in Shenzhen and Shanghai has a potential common pattern.Affected by commuting activities, the passenger flow distribution has significant morning and evening peak characteristics, and the common stations have regular changes. As a type of site that has a large gap with the common pattern of passenger flow, the group personality sites show irregular characteristics in the distribution of passenger flow, and show a relatively independent spatial distribution in the city.Urban personality sites and common sites are sites that conform to the common model of passenger flow and exist in a large number of cities, but urban personality sites are reflected in a large number of sites in only one city.By comparing the built environment around various stations,it is found that the built environment around the station has a significant impact on the characteristics of passenger flow changes and people’s travel behavior.Different land composition will lead to different changes in passenger flow. For example, the land use functions around individual sites are often rare in cities, and similar land use functions often exist between common sites. This phenomenon is applicable to both urban sites.
