Research On The Plan Of Modern Buildings In Kulangsu

Gulangsu,known as the "historical international community ",witnessed the convergence and blending of native culture and foreign multiculturalism during the development of modern century,and gave birth to more than a thousand foreign buildings with various plane forms.As the main builders of modern foreign buildings in Gulangsu,returning overseas Chinese and native residents constantly adjust and adapt to the cultural differences between China and foreign countries in their daily living life,and can be reflected in the plane layout of modern foreign buildings.In this paper,we take the modern ocean floor plane of Gulangyu as the research object,from the three different levels of ocean floor layout,individual plane and plane elements(hall,bedroom,staircase,patio,attached room,verandah,high-rise),through combing the main types and layout characteristics,quantitative application characteristics,spatial layout characteristics,formal evolution characteristics,and combined with the land deed,property rights and other historical data,to explore the change of living culture and life style of overseas Chinese and local residents.In the layout of foreign buildings,the traditional family settlement model can continue and evolve the group type,juxtaposition type,local foreign buildings and other types of layout,the traditional concept of inferiority and inferiority,while paying more attention to the independence of individual family units.In addition,the single-family layout with the interest of western life has been widely used,reflecting the acceptance of the foreign way of life by returning overseas Chinese and native residents.In the individual plane layout,the traditional plane expansion technique continuation,the Chinese and foreign plane composition element and the layout technique organic combination makes the plane present the Chinese and foreign fusion overall characteristic,but most of the plane layout still can reflect the continuation tradition or accepts the outside to different tendencies,and mainly to continue the traditional tendency.In the modern plane evolution,the layout of the hall,patio,bedroom and other traditional plane elements continue to be applied.In themodern plane evolution,its layout breaks through the shackles of the paradigm,according to the modern living habits flexible adjustment,improve the living quality,verandah and high-rise as the symbol of colonial buildings,affected by Gulangyu native environment,culture and architectural concepts,forms and functions show a regional evolution trajectory.Comprehensively,in the modern development,in the face of Chinese and foreign multiculturalism in the way of life,overseas Chinese and native residents do not completely continue the tradition or accept,but in the construction practice of continuous adjustment and integration,organic integration of Chinese and foreign layout and spatial operation techniques,in order to adapt to diverse living culture and habits,meet different environmental characteristics and needs,reflect its strong tolerance and creativity.
