An innovative performance-recoverable beam-column connection was proposed in this paper, and the related seismic performance was studied. The non-through-length stretching method was adopted in this new connection, and a replaceable angle steel was set as a fuse at the connection between the connector and the steel beam.Different beam sections were connected by the end-plate and the high-strength bolts to concentrate energy consumption and repair damage. This article presents the seismic performance analysis of the innovative performance-recoverable beam-column connection subjected to cyclic loading.Based on the measured load-lateral displacement hysteresis curves of three specimens without replaceable-angle-steel,five specimens with different angle steels, different initial prestressing and different flange thickness of the connector, and one specimen with one-side replaceable angle steel, the seismic behaviours, such as the ductility, energy dissipation, stiffness and load-bearing capacity, were analysed. The effects of the arrangement of the angle steels, the initial prestress and the flange thickness of connector on the seismic performance of the new connection were critically examined.Hysteretic curves of each specimen were obtained to verify the recoverability of the proposed structure. The seismic behavior including the energy dissipation capacity, bearing capacity and stiffness of each specimen was analyzed. The result shown that the seismic performance of the new connection with an replaceable angle steel shown a excellent seismic behavior. It could be replaced easily and quickly after the earthquake, and the seismic performance of the specimen was not much different from that before the replacement, which means that the seismic performance recovery can be achievedafter the earthquake by the new connector.Adding replaceable angle steel could effectively improve the seismic performance of the new connection and suppress the expansion of the flange of the connector.Reasonable initial prestress could effectively increase the ultimate load and initial stiffness of the specimen, and improve the energy consumption. Both the flange thickness and the angle steel have an inhibitory effect on the flange expansion, however, they have little effect on the seismic performance of the specimen.Based on experiment, the restoring force model of the new connection with an replaceable angle steel is established and is good agreement with skeleton curve of test by comparison. However,it can be seen that the theoretical value of each specimen is larger than the test value. The experimental analysis revealed that the reason was that during the theoretical calculation,it was assumed that the influence of the downward movement of the center of rotation caused by the expansion of the flange of the connector was ignored.
