With the progress of the times, the development of the society and the rapid economic development of the city, the urban population increases and the per capita land area is less and less, which not only causes the increasing number of high-rise buildings and super high-rise buildings in the city, but also makes the distance between buildings gradually reduce, and many buildings become adjacent structures. However, most of the buildings are designed in the form of single building. When encountering natural disasters such as earthquakes, adjacent structures may collide with each other, causing great damage to the structure.Cause great economic loss.In this paper, two adjacent structures are connected to form a whole structure by installing tuned mass damper to improve the seismic performance.Specifically, the mass block is placed in the structure with larger mass in the adjacent structure, and the adjacent structure and the mass block are connected to form a whole structure by viscous damping. The relationship between the parameters of viscous damper and mass block as well as the numerical coordination of adjacent structures is discussed. The influence mechanism of the parameters of viscous dampers on the seismic response of adjacent structures is studied. The following conclusions are drawn:(1)The peak value of the displacement transfer function curve of the two adjacent structures is reduced to the greatest extent when the damping value calculated by the theoretical formula is added between the two adjacent structures and the mass block. It can be concluded that the additional viscous damper can effectively avoid the resonance of the structure, and the accuracy of the optimum damping formula is verified by comparing the calculation results obtained by the self-made program with the damping amount obtained by the theoretical formula.(2)The seismic responses of adjacent structures are different under different seismic waves. The displacement response, velocity response and absolute acceleration response of adjacent structures reach the minimum value when calculating the damping value, and then increase with the increase of damping value. The energy consumption of the damper gradually increases with the increase of the additional damping value, and reaches the maximum when the damping value is obtained by the calculation formula derived from the additional theory, and then decreases with the increase of the damping value.Considering the comprehensive situation,it is proved that the calculation formula of the best damping value derived from the theory is reasonable and applicable in the actual situation.(3)taking two adjacent steel frame structures of 20 floors as example models, two working conditions represent two different installation positions. The seismic response and energy consumption of viscous damper under three different seismic waves under the two working conditions are compared, and a better installation position is obtained through comparative analysis.Compared with the original structure, the maximum absolute displacement of the floors in the seismic waves of the two working conditions is reduced to different degrees.Among them, the maximum floor displacement of the first working condition is smaller than that of the second working condition. The maximum absolute velocity of the floor is basically the minimum in condition I,the second in condition II,and the maximum in original structure.Compared with the original structure, the maximum floor acceleration of the two working conditions has different reduction compared with the maximum displacement of each floor. The maximum acceleration of the first and the second floor of the working condition is not different in some cases, and in most cases, the first working condition is better than the second working condition. The energy consumption value and the energy consumption ratio of the damper in the first condition are greater than that in the second condition. From this comprehensive consideration, the distribution scheme of condition I is the best, that is,the mass block is placed on the top of two adjacent structures with larger mass.
