A Study On The Terrains Impact On The Application Differences Of Sponge Cities In China

Nowadays,the rapid development of urbanization increasingly severe the problems of global warming,ecological environment,shortage of resources and energy.In many cities,the water resources problem was more and more outstanding,which had a strong impact on the continuous development.To solve that problem,a new construction method,sponge cities,was put forward by countries successively.The sponge cities used the sponge features to gradually improve its water resources problems.In recent years,China strongly advocated the sponge cities construction with publishing numerous policy papers.However,as China's vast territory,the sponge cities constructions were influenced by the diversity of terrain,climate,ecological environment and urbanization.In implementation,cities were faced with choosing design and construction processes,which were fully adapted to the local conditions.By reviewing the construction foundation,development and status que both China and aboard,the thesis pointed out that the sponge cities construction in China started late and had some boundedness and limitation due to the urban planning and design in early times.For the past few years,the sponge cities constructed in south China were mainly to prevent urban waterlogging and against flood season,while in north,to efficient treat black and odorous water and relevant urban heat island problems.However,the emerging extreme climates caused waterlogging in China,not only in the rainy cities in the south,but also the plain area in the north,and even the droughted inland cities in the northwest.To better the sponge cities function,it was clear that the present rain-flood utilization application should accompany with underlying problems studies and perfection focused on the terrain differences of sponge cities.Based on the above factors,the thesis compared and analyzed the sponge cities construction differences in the mountain regions,flat lands,plateaus and other terrains in China.It concluded the construction features and practical experience from several sponge cities,and brought out rational suggestions and proposals to sponge cities construction,hoping to provide a reference to the construction mode selection in the future.Meanwhile,it was expecting to provide methods to healthy and steady development of urbanization by effective use of the water resource,stress-relief of urban water,and utilizing the application,drainage and purification of water with the consideration of natural factor such as terrains.
