Typhoon has brought serious casualties and economic losses to China.A large number of low-rise buildings and structures were damaged and collapsed in the wind disaster.This paper has absorbed the experience and research results of the inspection and identification of the existing buildings over the years,and sorted out a large number of investigation cases after the wind disaster.On this basis,the general characteristics of wind damage of many low-rise buildings are summarized,and a complete urgent assessment method for low-rise buildings damaged by wind disaster is established and applied in engineering practice.The main contents in this paper are shown as following.(1)The damage statistics and related research methods of Typhoon on low buildings are summarized.Various appraisal methods of existing building structures are sorted out,and assessment ideas and research results of various building structures after earthquake and other disasters are analyzed and compared.It is necessary to establish an emergency assessment method for low-rise buildings damaged by wind disaster.It is pointed out that the study on the damage characteristics of wind-damaged buildings is the key to form an emergency assessment method for wind-damaged buildings.(2)The field investigation results of several severe typhoons were sorted out,and a large number of examples of wind-induced damage to various low buildings and structures were collected.Based on the characteristics of damaged buildings and the mechanism of wind load,the general characteristics of damaged structures or components are summarized.(3)According to the destructive characteristics of various buildings or structures and the experience of detection and appraisal,the basis for classifying the degree of wind-induced damage of various buildings or structures is given through quantitative or qualitative description.The damage grade mainly includes basic intact,slight damage,medium damage,serious damage,partial collapse or collapse.According to the above measures,a practical and targeted emergency assessment method after wind disaster has been established.(4)By applying the above urgent assessment methods,the investigation and appraisal of four typical buildings damaged by typhoon,such as rural mixed structure house,grid structure roof,large gymnasium and concrete structure under construction,are carried out.These four cases can provide reference for urgent assessment and subsequent engineering treatment of typhoon damaged buildings.
