As one of the most important friction pairs of diesel engine,the performance of cylinder liner-piston ring(CLPR)are very important and affect the service life,reliability,and economy of diesel engines.The results show that the friction consumption power accounts of CLPR for about 25% to 50% of the mechanical power of the diesel engine,and it also account for a large proportion in the fault statistics of marine.In addition,the sealing performance of CLPR plays an important role in the performance of diesel engine.Therefore,it is of great significance to optimize the performance of the cylinder liner-piston ring in order to increase the service life of CLPR,improve the efficiency of diesel engine and save fuel.In this paper,the friction pairs of cylinder liner-piston ring in diesel engine have been studied as the object to investigate wear mechanism and sealing performance of CLPR.These include the design and processing of surface texture on cylinder,the characteristics of friction and lubricating oil film of the reciprocating sliced cylinder liner-piston ring friction pair,the tribological properties and sealing performance of the entire CLPR,and the mapping relationship between oil particles and surface texture structure of CLPR.Then the characteristic parameters obtained before and after the test under different operating conditions were comprehensively compared.The effects of surface texture on the performance of the CLPR friction pair are systematically analyzed,and the mapping relationship between the performance of the CLPR friction pair and the cylinder liner with different surface texture was established.The results show that the groove structure on cylinder liner with appropriate size can effectively improve tribological properties of the friction pair,and reduce the wear.The 30° groove texture has a better tribology property,and based on the 30° groove texture,the 2 mm groove texture can improve friction and wear properties of friction pair in low speed,while it is more advantageous to improve the performance of the 3 mm groove textured friction pair in higher speed.The intensive study of the entire CLPR found the appropriate width thread groove texture(TGT)on cylinder can effectively improve the sealing performance and tribological properties of friction pair,such as 3 mm TGT has the significant effect on CLPR system performance,as the CLPR antifriction performance showed sealing performance improved by 14.4% and tribological properties improved by about 30%.In addition,the characteristic parameters of two-dimensional and three-dimensional topography of the wear particle were obtained by using filtergram method.The result shows that the reasonable surface textures are conducive to improve the lubrication performance of friction pair,such as cylinder with 2 mm groove texture can effectively improve the lubrication performance of friction pair.It is believed that these studies can provide the experimental and theoretical basis for the application of surface texture on CLPR of diesel engine.
