As the most complicated area in urban transportation,the old town is a major difficulty in urban planning practice,which has long been a research hotspot of the academic world at home and abroad in the field of transportation.In recent years,many cities have established the concepts of people-orientation,bus-priority and low-carbon ecology in the process of transforming the old town,and strive to provide strong transportation support for the creation of old towns that are livable,energetic,healthy and orderly.In the process of exploring the reconstruction of the non-motorized system in the old town,the original regional features shall be protected and the regional road environment be optimized to make the overall appearance of blocks completely innovated.The paper which takes the non-motorized road in the old town as the research object mainly studies the planning of the non-motorized network and pavement construction of the old town.In the process of regional non-motorized road planning,the following elements should be analyzed: the characteristics of the non-motorized traffic and road network texture,and the road form in the old town.Combining with the domestic and international non-motorized road planning concepts and practical cases,the road construction concepts of formulating the non-motorized road network planning policy with the adjustment of road rights as the main means,respecting the regional history and culture and ensuring the travel safety of pedestrians shall be established.On the issue of road right distribution in the layer of road network,the paper summarizes the impact of different modes of transportation on road resources,the impact of the connection between travel subjects on the roads and the impact of motorized traffic mode on non-motorized roads.Furthermore,it tries to find the redistribution method of non-motorized road rights suitable for the road conditions in the old town according to the characteristics of the travel subjects in the old town and the status quo of the "high-density and small-blocks" road network.Based on the above-mentioned research on the distribution of road rights,the pavement design principles of non-motorized roads are integrated and summarized,including the configuration method of the sidewalks,bicycle lanes,road sections and pavement facilities and the study on the layout of slow landscape.Finally,this paper takes Hankou Concession Area of Wuhan as an example to carry out the non-motorized road planning practice,analyze the existing traffic situation and obtain the regional non-motorized road reconstruction plan without destroying the existing urban road texture,that is,integrate the independent nonmotorized transportation resources in the area,reconstruct the urban roads that meet the requirements into non-motorized roads and form an overall non-motorized system in Hankou Concession Area so as to provide a safe and comfortable travel environment for the pedestrians in the Hankou Concession Area.
