In modern high technology wars,the air attacks generally utilize various attacking strategies with multiple heights,sequences,and directions,which significantly challenge the air defense missions.To get the initiative in air defense combats,the command decisions must be made rapidly according to the situation threat assessments results.Due to the complexity of battlefield,advanced and intelligent air-targets threat assessment methods are essentially required in modern wars as a decision aid of command system.Aiming at addressing the aforementioned challenges in modern air defense combats,this paper investigates multiple attribute decision making(MADM)based air-target threat assessment methods.The main contents are summarized as follows:(1)The historical developments,research status as well as some key technologies of threat assessments are investigated,specifically for MADM based threat assessment method.(2)Taking the background of modern air defense combats,the data flow of MADM based air-target threat assessment methods are studied.First,the air-targets threat attributes are summarized and the analysis models of threat values are established in terms of targets measurement,statement,and capacity.Then threat attribute weights determination methods four commonly used MADM algorithms are introduced.Based on the studied MADM algorithms,a novel correlation optimization based comprehensive ranking method(COCRM)is proposed to solve the problem that the threat ranking results from different MADM algorithms are not consistent.Finally,the effectiveness of MADM based air-target threat assessment methods are demonstrated through several simulation examples.(3)A dynamic COCRM based air-target threat assessment method is developed to overcome the drawback of conventional MADM based threat assessment methods,i.e.,conventional methods are only capable of handling static threat information while fail to predict the variances of threats.Based on grey prediction theory,the mathematical model and flow chart of the proposed method are detailed.A threat assessment example with time-varying data is utilized to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.(4)According to the aforementioned studies,a multiple attribute decision making based threat assessment simulation system(MTASS)is established through C# and MATLAB.The functions and framework of MTASS are introduced,and the exploitation techniques of the system are detailed.The example indicates that MTASS is able to accomplish air-target threat assessment off-line simulations and evaluations,which is critical to achieve validation of threat assessment algorithms and graphical exhibition of assessment results.In conclusion,the paper makes an in-depth investigation of the key technologies in MADM based air-target threat assessment methods,and develops a threat assessment simulation system.The effectiveness and practicality of the researches are illustrated through several application examples.The researches can provide a decision aid for the commands of air defense combats under complexity battlefield background,which is beneficial to reducing the reaction period of command and improving the effectiveness of air defense combats.
