On the issue of traffic safety,the influence of environment on people cannot be ignored.Sunlight glare may cause some disturbance to the driver's field of vision.At present,there is no unified method for calculating the severity of such impact as well as the evaluation indices.The existing glare evaluation methods are mainly for indoor and road lighting scenes.The influence factors of solar glare are studied in this paper.After summarizing the evaluation methods of glare at home and abroad,an evaluation model suitable for the effect of solar glare on drivers in vehicle running is proposed.The threshold value is proposed and verified through experimental analysis.Firstly,based on the evaluation methods of glare at home and abroad,the GGR(Great Source Glare Rating)evaluation model of the effect of solar glare in vehicle running is established according to the uniform glare value.In view of the road scene,the index calculation method for the model is proposed based on the influence factors of glare.According to longitude,latitude and road azimuth,solar altitude Angle,position coefficient and light source coverage are calculated.The driver's solid Angle is calculated according to the driver's position.According to the outdoor lighting standard,the sky brightness under typical weather conditions is calculated.DIALux software is adopted in scene modeling analysis,and the index values of the evaluation model are determined.Secondly,this paper presents a method which uses vehicle data recorder to perform the field experiment.Furthermore,the methods for data collecting are discussed.The video data captured by the vehicle data recorder is extracted and analyzed.Remove the distortion correction of the driving recorder shooting videos to restore the real perspectives of drivers.The brightness and line of sight based on the data are corrected.Moreover,the reliability of the correction method is demonstrated by experiments.After filtering the interference information,the key indices are extracted and determined.Therefore,a complete analysis method for processing the data from auto data recorder is obtained.Thirdly,typical scenes are selected for conducting experiments and calculations.The GGR value of each scene was calculated,and the data collected by the vehicle data recorder is analyzed.Then the model is analyzed by DIALux software,so the evaluation indexes are obtained.Through a great number of experiments,using support vector machine LIBSVM as the tool to calculate the threshold value.The accuracy of model validation is 88.5%.In addition,the accuracy of the evaluation system is verified by selecting typical experimental scenarios.Then,the subjective evaluation experiment is designed using the semantic difference scale.Collect basic information of the drivers participating in the survey to improve the reliability of the results of subjective evaluation experiment.The subjective evaluation experiment demonstrates the accuracy of both the evaluation method presented and threshold selected in the research,which is of great significance in engineering practice.Finally,in order to reduce the adverse effects of sunlight glare on the driver,practical measures are proposed to improve traffic safety from three aspects of road design stage,driving recorder reminder and driver's active prevention.The research results of this paper have certain practical value for optimizing road design and improving driving safety.
