With the global warming and melting of glaciers in the Arctic,new Arctic waterways for ocean-going ships have emerged and the study of polar ships has become a hot spot.In addition to wind,wave and flow,it is necessary to focus on sea ice in the navigation environment of ships.Studying the strength evaluation of hull outer plate under local ice load is of great significance.In order to meet the strength requirements,the outer plate of polar ship is generally built with high-strength steel.Instead of the traditional and conservative elastic design criteria,the concept of plastic guidelines design has been now recognized for the ultimate ice load in ice belt area.Based on the theory of plastic deformation design,this paper makes an in-depth study on the evaluation method of polar ship plate strength in ice belt area.In this paper,the research background of polar ships is introduced firstly.The research of local structure strength under ice load in ice belt and rectangular plate deformation are summarized.The suggestion of elastic fixed rectangular plate is put forward according to the structure of plate frame under local transverse load.The calculation method of the flexible coefficient is given.Based on the theory of ship structural mechanics,the elastic deformation solution of the quadrilateral fixed-branch and elastic support rectangular plate under local load is deduced respectively.The ultimate load rapid evaluation method of the side structure is modified,and the applicability of this fast checking method to bow structure is discussed.At the bow,a fast calculation method based on simplified finite element analysis is proposed.The ultimate load rapid evaluation method under local ice load discussed in this paper is simple,fast and visual,and it can be widely used to evaluate the plate strength of ice belt area in the preliminary design stage of large polar carriers.
