The urban space has been extended to the underground as the urban land is increasingly becoming insufficient.One disadvantages of underground space are relatively closed.But the implantation of the atrium space can greatly improve the physical environment quality of the underground space.This paper aims to investigate the thermal environment of underground atrium space around three research questions,through a case study of Xuzhou City.Question 1 is what the current statement of thermal environment of underground atriums.Question 2 is how to evaluate thermal environment of underground atrium space.Question 3 is how to improve thermal environment of underground atrium space.The Question 1 is studied through the field measurement and questionnaire.The conclusions tell that thermal environment of underground atrium space is comfortable in winter,and the most users are satisfied with that.However,in summer thermal environment is less comfortable.Humidity of underground atrium is too high.Moreover,most users also complain that the atrium is too hot.Question 2 is answered through literature review.Based on the existing thermal comfort evaluation model and the relevant domestic building regulations,evaluation criteria of this paper is selected that the provision of-1≤APMV≤1 is comfort zone for underground atrium thermal environment,the greater the frequency within the comfort zone,the higher the comfort level;which is judged at a frequency close to the comfort zone.Question 3 is investigated by computer simulation.The simulation is carried out by TAS software.According to control variates method,the influence of the underground atrium space form,shading,materials and night ventilation on the thermal environment of underground atrium space in summer are discussed.The results show that it is impossible to achieve the thermal comfort in underground atrium by adjusting the atrium space form,materials or shading in summer.When the plane scale(PAR)of the local lower atrium space is 0.2,the underground atrium space is the closest of the five plane proportions simulated to the comfortable area.The underground atrium space of the positive triangle plane improves the thermal environment best.Underground atrium space thermal environment has some connection with the angle and width of the sunshielded leaves,this paper proves that the best 57 degrees in the simulated percek tilt angle,0.8m best in a variety of widths,and should be combined with the annual light.Ventilation and heating requirements are designed.When phase change material(PCM)of the same size and size is applied in the underground atrium space,the horizontal components of the underground atrium space can effectively reduce the energy consumption of the underground atrium space than when applied in the lateral component.However,due to the low heat storage performance of the spatial structure components of the underground atrium,other strategies need to be combined in practical application to achieve better results.
