In recent years,with the rapid development of offshore grid,the utilization of offshore wind energy has become an important direction of developing renewable energy.The aerodynamic performance of wind turbine directly affects its electrical efficiency and service life.Therefore,the precise simulation and analysis of the flow field around a wind turbine has gradually become a key technology to design and study the offshore wind turbine,which attracts people's attention.At present,a lot of research work has been carried out to analyze the aerodynamic performance.But the simulations of the three-dimensional viscous flow field for a full-scale wind turbine are very limited.Therefore,a numerical study based on the open source CFD code OpenFOAM is carried out using large-eddy simulations.A NREL 5 MW wind turbine in full scale is considered.The aerodynamic performance and the characteristics of flow field around the wind turbine are analyzed.Firstly,the computational model,grid and numerical method adopted in this paper are introduced in detail,followed by a convergence analysis of the calculations to verify the feasibility of the numerical method adopted.Secondly,the calculated results of the wind turbine,which can be used to reflect the aerodynamic performance,were analyzed and discussed.By comparing the wake vortex distribution,thrust coefficient,power coefficient,limiting streamline among the blade and pressure coefficient distribution,the aerodynamic performance of the wind turbine and characteristics of flow field around it was discussed.And then,some suggestions for the design of wind turbine blade and wind farm layout optimization were proposed.Finally,a brief summary of the study on the aerodynamic performance of wind turbine and some introspection on the existing problems and deficiencies are introduced.In addition,the next step for the future work to study the hydrodynamic performance of floating wind turbine as well as the its effects on the platform movement were also presented.
