The Loess Plateau in China is the most concentrated and largest loess area in the world.Rainfall erosion of loess slope has always been a concern of engineering and academia. In recent years, hydraulic erosion caused by rainfall runoff has led to a large number of debris flows and deep slope erosion, resulting in serious soil loss.these caused serious damage to roads, farmland and villages in mountainous areas, and posed a security threat to the rural people. The loess slope in northwest Shanxi is taken as the research object, combining with hydraulics, soil mechanics and other disciplines, comprehensive data collection and field exploration. This paper studies geological characteristics, and clarify erosion feature and erosion mechanism of the loess slope. What’s more, the paper analyzes the slope runoff basing on the theory of motion wave, establishes the stress model of sediment particles on slope. And the main factors affecting the slope erosion are analyzed.According to the continuum theory and method,a water-sediment two-phase flow model for slope erosion is established. The erosion process of slope is simulated with different rainfall intensity and slope gradient. It is found that the greater the rainfall intensity, the larger the slope gradient, the more serious the slope erosion.Through the coupling mechanism of water and sediment, the scouring process of loess slope is deeply discussed. The result lay a foundation for the description of slope scouring dynamics, and it has important practical significance for the selection of protective measures for loess slope.
