Along with the liquefied gas such as natural gas,ethane and so on are widely used in transportation,industrial production,residential life,liquefied gas carriers have already become an important part of the exploitation and transportation of liquefied gas.CATIA V6 is an integrated software integrating CAD/CAE/CAM.It is widely used in aerospace,automotive,shipbuilding,machinery manufacturing and other industries.The integrated solutions of CATIA V6 covers all product design and manufacture fields.It can provide a 3D platform for digital enterprise,which is aimed at development designing and constructing of product,simulating various aspects during product development process including the use and maintenance of the product lifecycle.Advanced manufacturing is the development direction of the manufacturing industry,and the traditional manufacturing industry should focus on improving informatization,automation,and intelligent production.China's ship design industry is mainly divided into three stages: initial design,detailed design and production design.In order to accelerate the informatization development process of the shipbuilding industry and ensure the development of a single data source for developing the design project,the structure design based on the CATIA 3D design platform is adopted and the process is very meaningful.This thesis research the structural design of a very large liquefied gas carrier by using CATIA in initial design and detailed design stage.The general design of the membrane tank is carried out to ensure the main particulars of membrane tank by comprehensively considering the capacity requirements and the main particulars limit.The typical midsection design of the cargo hold area is completed by temperature distribution analysis and rule calculation.In CATIA V6,the basic library configuration such as structural building database is studied,and the 3D modeling work and other structural design of the cargo area is carried out according to the typical midsection drawing,and 2D drafting research is also carried out in order to get approval drawings based on 3D model automatically.The research on how to create finite element model from SFD model in CATIA is carried out,and then the structural analysis also could be performed by importing the finite element model which is simplified of the SFD model in CATIA into the analysis software.The secondary development of the structural modeling process in CATIA is carried out,and developing the cargo area modeling template is to be researched for the purpose of improving modeling efficiency.
