Liquefied Natural Gas(abbreviated as LNG)is a kind of clean, efficient, convenient and safe energy, 25% of world trade in Natural Gas is transported by sea in the form of LNG, so the development and research of the LNG carrier has become a hot issue today. Generally speaking, the cargo capacity within 100000 m3 LNG carrier is called Small and Medium sized- LNG carrier, cargo system uses C type independent tank. At present, the research work for middle and small scale LNG ship in domestic is only the beginning.Based on the ship form of 28000 m3 LNG carrier,the article researched structure design of small and medium-sized LNG carrier, compiled a set of structure design thinking and ideas for this type of ship,so as to design a middle and Small and Medium sized- LNG carrier with a reasonable structure and satisfy the strength indexes.The main work done in this article has the following several aspects:(1) Collecting a large number of LNG ship research results at domestic and abroad, expounds tank type of LNG ship, to explore the structure design of small and medium-sized LNG carrier.(2) Carry out preliminary scantling calculation of the 28000 m3 LNG cargo ship according to relevant regulations and guidelines. and compare the difference with conventional ship.(3) For 28000 m3 LNG cargo ship structure, three segment finite element model is established, according to the characteristics of small and medium-sized LNG ship, load-on the external load and internal load, carry out finite element strength analysis for 14 working conditions. According to the results of finite element model calculation, know about the deformation and stress state of hull structure under various conditions, for the prominent part of stress or deformation,find out which working conditions plays the leading role, and improve the structure reasonably.(4) According to structural strength assessment rules of China classification society for C type independent liquefied tank bearing and support structure, for the support structure of 28000 m3 LNG ship saddle,carry out finite element strength calculation, analyse the stress and deformation of in way of saddle, strength, optimize the structure design.
