With the development of urbanization, the number of urban populations has increased, and urban motorization has entered a stage of rapid development, travel demand has increased sharply that caused greater pressure on urban road network, and the number of traffic accidents has increased year by year. The impact of the vehicle's emissions has also led to further deterioration of the ecological environment, which not only causes greater travel difficulties, but also imposes severe economic and environmental pressures on the society. In order to solve these problems, many countries have introduced relevant policies to develop public transportation on the basis of controlling the frequency of motor vehicle travel.Bicycles have become popular due to their many advantages such as flexibility, mobility and environmental protection. The changes of transportation modes have a greater impact on the surrounding infrastructure.Up to now, many countries have paid more attention on the construction of motor vehicle than biclyles. With the increasment of the demand of bicycle travel, bicycle lanes will become an important part of urban road planning.Currently, the bicycle lanes are divided into two types, traditional bicycle lanes and bicycle lanes with independent road rights. In recent years, the latter has begun to build around the world. For example,London has successfully built and operated six lines. In recent years,Beijing,Guangzhou and other places have begun to build this type of bicycle lane.Based on this background, this paper analyzes the impacts of bicycle lanes on the usage of the bike sharing hire from a microscopic perspective. The results can not only provide theoretical support for relevant road traffic planning, but also provide guidance for the layout of bike sharing hire.Firstly, this paper introduces the definition of bicycle lanes with independent road rights, and summarizes the current situation of this type of bicycle lane in London, such as operation time and locations.Secondly, the data that used in our research modes is collected which include four parts, such as built environment factors, transportation modes, social economic factors and travel characteristics.Thirdly, based on the linear regression method, this paper estimates the influence range of the bicycle lane. The results showed that bicycle lanes have significant effects on the bike sharing hire withine this range. Finally, this paper applys the propensity score matching method to evaluate the impacts of bicycle lanes on the usage of bike sharing hire, which includes “annual average rental amount, average travel time, average travel speed and average travel distance”.The results obtained in this paper include: introducing the development of bicycle lanes with independent road right, such as the definition and function;building the dataset based on built environment factors, transportation modes, social economic factors and travel characteristics;applying the multiple linear regression model to analyze the influence range of bicycle lanes in London, the results showed that influence range is 300 meters; Finally, the propensity score matching method was used to estimate the impacts of bicycle lanes on the usage of bike sharing hire, the research outcomes suggested that the operation of bicycle lanes have an positive influences on the usage of bike sharing.
