With the trend of globalization, the exportation and competition of labor have become inevitable.Based on the strategic plan of “One Belt,One Road”,China has carried out a mass of construction project in the fields of highways, railways and electric power in the countries along the route. The contract value of international construction projects have increased year by year.At the same time as the rapid development of infrastructure construction, due to the heterogeneity of culture, law or corporates,Chinese international contractors need to improve their safety policies to meet the needs of international infrastructures construction.Even though Chinese international contractors are trying to optimize corporate safety policies to enhance their degree of internationalization. In fact, the implementation of corporate safety policies in international infrastructure projects remains tough. This research aims to determine the variables and their influential mechanisms in the efficacy of implementing corporate safety policies(CSPs)in international infrastructures, particularly from the perspectives of international contractors.Four explanatory variables for implementation of CSPs in international infrastructures were identified through literature review at first. And then a questionnaire survey was conducted among Chinese organizations that have been involved in international infrastructures. After that,121 valid responses received from the questionnaire survey were modeled using logistic regression in SPSS 22.0 in order to examine the impact of each variable on the observed event of interest. The four variables related to the effectiveness of implementation of CSPs involve “attitudes toward safety management measures(ASMM)”,“operational mechanism for safety regulations(OM)”,“safety knowledge management system(SKMS)” and “systematic safety training scheme(STS)”,which contributes to shedding light on management strategies for international construction. The results show that only variables of OM and SKMS are significantly related to the implementation of CSPs in international construction.SKMS is positively related to CSPs implementation, but OM is negatively associated with it.In other words,a more detailed OM would make the implementation of CSP more difficult in international construction projects. The rigid and bureaucratic regulation could be one of the main barriers in this unpredictable situation. The construction knowledge database is proved to be an efficient tool to collect, store, and update information. This platform can be used to retrieve previous solutions and experiences. The valuable knowledge is not only a direct solution for new projects but also guidance to enlighten new ideas in problem-solving.The novelty of this research lies in the variables and their impacts on implementing CSPs in international infrastructures, and in the extension of knowledge in terms of normative safety in international infrastructures through quantitatively modeling.
