Supercapacitor is a new type of energy storage element, also known as electrochemical capacitor. In recent years, with the advancement of material technology and the further improvement of the preparation process, the power density and energy density of supercapacitors have been gradually improved.Compared with traditional capacitors, supercapacitors have higher energy density and faster charge and discharge speeds, making them ideal power sources for high-power fast charge and discharge systems. However,at present, there is a lack of in-depth research on the testing and evaluation methods of pulse output performance, which,to a certain extent, restricts its development and application in the field of pulse power.Based on the application of supercapacitors in high-power pulse discharge, this paper studies the pulse output characteristics of supercapacitors.First, through the low-impedance short-circuit pulse discharge test for a large number of supercapacitor samples, the voltage and current waveforms during pulse discharge are obtained, and the pulse output characteristic parameters are calculated and analyzed.Secondly,by comparing the discharge waveforms of different samples and analyzing the pulse performance, the factors that affect the pulse output capability are studied, and the system's experimental methods and criteria are established to lay the foundation for obtaining the factors that affect the pulse discharge capability.By analyzing and comparing the characteristics and applicable conditions of the existing supercapacitor model, combined with a large amount of test data made for actual samples,an equivalent circuit model that simulates the fast(millisecond)high power output characteristics of supercapacitors is established.Pay attention to the size and arrival time of current peak and power extreme value. In order to study the voltage change at the initial stage of discharge, through further experiments,a more accurate dynamic equivalent circuit model of microsecond pulse discharge was established.Combining a large number of test data for different supercapacitor samples, the effectiveness of the two models is verified. Finally, the internal and external factors that affect the performance of pulse discharge are quantitatively analyzed, and the design and manufacturing requirements for supercapacitors in high-power discharge applications are obtained.
