In recent years,Chinese enterprises’ foreign direct investment has developed rapidly,especially since the “Belt and Road” initiative was proposed,Southeast Asia has gradually become one of the first choices for trade and investment by Chinese enterprises.Among them,according to the official statistics of China and Malaysia,China has become Malaysia’s largest trading partner for consecutive ten years.The two countries have frequent economic and trade exchanges and have close relations.However,Malaysia experienced the "509" election in 2018,the first political party rotation since independence.There have been new changes in China-Malaysia relations,and Chinese enterprises that are investing in the local area are the first to bear the brunt.In this regard,it is necessary to study the investment status of local Chinese enterprises.This article will first summarize the current investment situation of Chinese enterprises in Malaysia.Second,summarize the current risks faced by them in their local investment and development.Third,analyzing the influencing factors of Chinese enterprises investing in Malaysia.Forth,proceed with case studies from the perspective of private and state-owned enterprises.Take Country Garden’s "Forest City" project and "East Railway" project as typical cases,analyze the development dilemma and risk factors of the two,highlight the important role played by political factors,and then make a comparative analysis.Finally,it puts forward the experiences and suggestions of Chinese enterprises’ investment in Malaysia.
