Transportation has always been an important driving force for the development of the national economy and has a positive effect on regional economic development.At the same time,the uneven development of transportation is often an important bottleneck restricting regional economic development and the main reason for affecting regional economic differences.As one of the main modes of transportation for regional transportation,the railway has the characteristics of safety,punctuality and large traffic volume.It demonstrates unparalleled effectiveness in the vast territory,adjustment of regional economic structure,production factor flow,industrial and regional spatial structure.The re-layout has far-reaching effects.Against the background of the accelerating process of regional economic integration,this paper studies the impact of railway development on regional economic differences and convergence from the perspective of railway transportation development.It is hoped that it will provide certain policy support for the future optimization of railway layout in China,strengthening inter-regional linkages,and narrowing regional economic differences.The first part: theoretical analysis.Based on the regional economic theory,this paper first reviews a large number of documents,sorts out the research results of railway and regional economic differences,and lays a foundation for empiricalanalysis.Secondly,through qualitative research,objectively analyze the regional economic differences and railway development process in the eastern,central and western regions.Finally,from the perspectives of regional economic development,regional economic structure and regional spatial structure,this paper discusses the influence mechanism of railway on regional economic differences,and analyzes the influence of railway on regional economic differences.The second part: empirical test.This paper uses the panel data of 30 provinces and cities in China(excluding Tibet)from 2000 to 2016,and Select per capita GDP and railway density as indicators to measure regional economic development level and railway development level.Gini coefficient is used as a method to measure regional economic differences.It constructs econometric models from different perspectives to test regional economic differences and economic development of railway development in the eastern,central and western regions.The impact of growth trends.In the empirical research,the panel data model with the Gini coefficient as the explanatory variable and the railway density as the explanatory variable is firstly established to test the relationship between the railway and the regional economic differences,and to explore the factors affecting the regional economic differences in the eastern,central and western regions.Then verify the ?convergence of the regional economic development level in the eastern,central and western regions.Finally,the GDP growth rate per capita is used as the explanatory variable.The interaction term between per capita GDP,railway density and per capita GDP is the absolute ? convergence and conditional ? convergence model of the main explanatory variables,verifying whether the economic growth in the three regions of East,Central and West is economic.There is an absolute beta convergence and a tendency for conditional beta convergence.The third part is the conclusion of the study.The empirical results show that:(1)Railway development can effectively promote economic development in the eastern,central and western regions and narrow regional economic differences.(2)There is a? convergence trend in per capita GDP in the eastern region.There is no obvious diffusion or convergence in per capita GDP in the central region.The convergence ofper capita GDP ? in the western region shows a trend of ups and downs.(3)There is an absolute ? convergence trend in economic growth in the eastern,central and western regions.(4)There is a conditional ? convergence trend in economic growth in the eastern,central and western regions.(5)Railway development can effectively promote regional economic convergence in the central and western regions.Finally,the article combines the empirical conclusions,proposes how to promote the railway construction and urbanization in the central and western regions;promotes industrial transfer and upgrading in the eastern,central and western regions while taking into account regional differences;enhances the level of technological innovation;strengthens human capital investment and the central and western regions.Construction of regional laws and regulations,etc.In order to narrow the economic differences in the eastern,central and western regions and provide regional coordinated development,relevant policy recommendations are provided.
