CMS-FA is a new kind of hybrid rice system, established by Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. It is completely different from both CMS-WA and CMS-HL hybrid rice in the cytoplasm type,restorer-maintainer relationship and maintainer sources.CMS-FA hybrid rice has a great potential in developing higher yielding and superior quality hybrid rice due to its higher resources utilization rates. In this study, the genetic analysis and mapping of fertility restoring gene of CMS-FA hybrid rice was carried out through the genetic performances of crosses and backcrosses of wild rice x Shengtai 1,and wild × R66,and molecular marker genetic analysis. The results are as follows:1.The fertility of CMS-FA was controlled by a pair of dominant genes, temporarily named this gene Rf-t.2.Using F2 of Jia Zaol-6 XAcc8558 as positional segregation population and 575 SSR markers, the Rf-t gene was mapped on chromosome 10,between the marker RM228 and RM496.It was 12.6cM and 4.2 cM from RM228 and RM496,respectively.Based on which,we further mapped the gene between ZM35 and ZM28 by using newly-developed 65 pairs of SSR markers.ZM35 and ZM28 were 0.35cM and 2.3cM from the Rf-t respectively, about 356kb physic distance.
