Resource Investigation And Conservation Of Ancient Trees In Impact Area Of Wudongde Hydropower

Ancient trees,means the trees more than 100 years.The ancient trees are the survivors of nature temper and human activities.It also is living heritage of life.In addition to economic value,ecological value,landscape value outside as the plant.The ancient trees also have important scientific value and social value.Ancient trees not only reflect the natural change.It is a registrar of natural evolution,climate and geological environmental change and is an important basis for the study of natural history.As a witness to the activities of human history,trees can also be given profound cultural connotation,becoming a unique part of human civilization.It has important social value.Therefore,protection of ancient trees has always attracted widespread attention,has become an important benchmark for measuring a country's level of civilization.In this study,we thoroughly investigated ancient trees resources of Wudongde Hydropower with field surveys literature,and historical visited method.Comprehensive electronic files are established,to complement the ancient trees resource information.Combine with engineering properties;we clarify the positional relationship between the construction projects and of the ancient trees and the impact of project.At the same time,in order to protect the limited resources of ancient trees,this paper put forward recommendations for further effective and reasonable protection of ancient trees.The major findings are as following.In the survey area,there are a total of 333 ancient trees.They main are:Ficus virens,Tamarindus indica,Albizia julibrissin,Delonix regia,Bombax malabaricum and Toona ciliate.The strains of them are 78,151,74,16,11,and 3,respectively.Judging from the distribution area,the ancient trees in the survey area mostly distributed in two places:Luozuo village,Huidong County and Xin'an village,Huili County.They have old trees 119 and 71,respectively.The total number of trees ratio is 35.74%and 21.32%.From the diameter at breast of ancient trees,there are 187trees in the range of 1.0 to 0.5 meters accounting for 56.16%,the number of Tamarindus indica occupies 103.The ancient trees which impacted by Wudongde hydropower project is a total of 130:the number of Tamarindus indica,Bombax malabaricum and Ficus virens is 68,15 and 47.Among them 68 Tamarindus indica,12 Bombax malabaricum and 46 Ficus virens are located in the flooded area.Affected by the reservoir flooded,there is 1 Fincus virens located in the hub project area,may will be impact by stockpiling stone in the works and vehicle transportation.3 Bombax malabaricum are located in the resettlement area,may be affected by the impact of the resettlement activities.Ancient trees located below the reservoir inundation line will be inundated by the reservoir.The reservoir was filled to its cause irreversible damage.It needs to be ex-situ conservation.
