| Agriculture is the foundation of the state, and food is the primary for all human. At present, the national evaluation of cultivated land quality and its annual update have provided a strong support for the protection of both quantity and quality of the cultivated land. However, they are hardly able to meet the basic needs of food security and the new concept of "Trinity Construction".For example, due to the current investigation and evaluation of cultivated land quality being mainly based on the county level, there is still lack of horizontal contrast between counties within the scope of the city.Meanwhile, since the evaluation is based on the natural quality, factors such as land use convenience, land spatial integrity and its ecological security are not considered. Therefore,a comprehensive quality evaluation model of cultivated land is constructed from 4 dimensions in this paper:natural quality, land use convenience, space conformation and ecological security. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The natural quality of cultivated land in Jingzhou City is generally high, especially in counties such as Songzi,Gongan and Jianli, which are located in the hinterland of the Jianghan Plain and commensurate with their status of major grain producing bases.(2)The land use convenience of cultivated land in Jingzhou City needs to be improved, because the accessibility of rural settlements and rural roads to the cultivated land nearby is not high, and it calls for scientific layout and reasonable planning.(3)There is a big difference in space conformation of cultivated land in Jingzhou City:Areas such as Jianli and Jiangling are more regular and continuous, while Songzi and Honghu are relatively discrete and broken.(4)The ecological security of cultivated land in Jingzhou City is basically good, indicating that it has formed a positive effect on the response to various ecological pressures.(5)The comprehensive quality of cultivated land in Jingzhou City shows a ladder type distribution:The cultivated land’s quality in the northwest part is higher, that in the central south is moderate, and that on the north and the east edges of the city is relatively poor.According to the research results above,it is suggested that measures in order to enhance the comprehensive quality of the cultivated land should be taken from 3 aspects:(1)the continuous improvement of natural quality for cultivated land as the foundation;(2)the optimization of the spatial distribution of cultivated land and its related types;and(3)the strengthen of the comprehensive protection mechanism of cultivated land resources. |
