Measurements were obtained by the continuous monitoring of the stem diameter variation(SDV)in different heights and stem sap flow of Liriodendron chinense(Hemsl.)Sarg using dendrometer and TDP(Thermal Dissipation Sapwood Flow Velocity Probe). And the relationship between SDV and sap flow was studied. In addition, the study of SDV and sap flow in relation to climate factors was discussed to develop a better understanding of stem diameter variation and its physiological mechanisms. While the research may also provide a support to the measurement method of carbon sink in trees. The main contents are as follows:(1)The dendrometer was developed to measure SDV in different heights according to the different measuring range of tree diameter. The dendrometer combine of static measurement and dynamic measurement, static measurement for the absolute stem diameter of trees range of(120-190)mm,resolution 0.01 mm,accuracy±0.3mm;dynamic measurement for daily stem diameter variation range of 2mm,resolution 0.1?m.The following good properties are lightweight design, easy installation, automatic monitoring, causing little damage to the plant.(2)The study of SDV and its response to environmental factors. This part of work includes comparing two SDV patterns under different weather conditions, analysis of time delay of SDV in different heights and the difference of SDV In different seasons,to study the relationship between SDV and climate factors.(3)The relationship between SDV and sap flow and in relation to the environmental factors. This part of work includes studying the relationship between the stem diameter variation and sap flow rate, the change patterns of the two parameters under different weather conditions, analyzing the correlation between the stem diameter variation and sap flow rate and climate factors. |
