In present study we reports,the screening of suitable soybean varieties and intercropping pattern for to intercrop soybean with kenaf.We conducted experiment in Nanning and Hechi of Guangxi,China.We set up monocropping kenaf,monocropping soybean,and a single and double row intercropping of soybean with four rows of kenaf to select best suitable soybean cultivar to be intercropped with kenaf and suitable field field cultivation pattern to provide scientific basis of high yield cultivation techniques for soybean,kenaf intercropping,and to provide theoritical support for the popularization of kenaf soybean intercropping cultivation methods in Guangxi.The main objectives of this study were:(1).To determine the growth and developmental effects of kenaf and soybean on each other;(2).The effect of the intercropping on yield of kenaf and soybean.(3).The effect of the intercropping kenaf and soybean on the physical and chemical properties of soil.The main results are were as follows:1.Compared with all intercropping treatments,double row intercropping cropping patterns showed that soybean A2 varieties had better performance with the highest yield of soybean and kenaf.Under double cropping patterns,the yield of soybean A2 was higher compared with other patterns.The plant height,stem diameter,number of branches of the main stem,SPAD,leaf area of the functional leaves,and the dry matter production were significantly higher than that of the single cropping pattern.Inadditon,the dry skin weight of individual kenaf plant was also the highest and was 1.88 times that of the single cropping system.2.In the planting of Nanning and Hechi in Guangxi,under double cropping patterns,the agronomic traits,yield and soil physical and chemical properties of the kenaf and soybean were better than the monocropping planting patterns of single cropping and intercropping.(1)Intercopping kenaf with soybean promote the growth and development of the both crops.Under intercropping 1 mode and intercropping 2 patterns,the plant height,stem diameter,skin thickness and plant height and SPAD of kenaf were higher than those of single cropping system.In the aspect of soybean dry matter accumulation,the intercropping 2 pattern was higher than the intercropping 1 pattern.(2)Kenaf and soybean intercropping significantly increased the yield of soybean and kenaf.Under the intercropping 2 mode,the yield components of pod number and pod number per plant of soybean varieties A2 and A5 were significantly higher than those of single cropping.2 intercropping mode of kenaf plant tare per plant,weight of bone,total fresh weight,dry weight and yield of composite.(3)Kenaf and soybean intercropping increased soil alkali hydrolyzable nitrogen and total nitrogen contents.Under double planting patterns in Nanning,the content of alkali hydrolysable nitrogen in soil of soybean root area was the highest,reaching 123.28 mg/kg,and the total nitrogen content in the soil of kenaf and soybean root was significantly higher than that of single cropping.Under the different intercropping patterns of Hechi experimental field,the contents of alkali hydrolysable nitrogen in the soil of kenaf and soybean root region were significantly higher than that of single cropping.Under the double planting mode,the soil alkaline nitrogen in the root zone of kenaf was significantly higher than that of the intercropping pattern,and the total nitrogen content of the soil under intercropping 1 and intercropping was significantly higher than that of the single cropping.
