Study On The Cultivation Effect Of Grafting Tomatoes On Different Rootstocks

Tomatoes are the main staple vegetable crops in Guangxi,due to years of continuous cropping,soil-borne diseases such as bacterial wilt area and degree of harm occurring gradually ncreased.The use of excellent disease resistance rootstocks for grafting cultivation can significantly enhance tomato disease resistance and stress resistance,improve root absorption capacity,and achieve disease prevention and yield increase.Therefore,the demand for grafted seedlings has increased year by year,however,due to the lack of systematic comparative research on the applicability of grafted rootstocks,the varieties of rootstocks used in grafted seedling production are mixed,resulting in the inability to meet the planting needs of the ntensive seedling plant.In this paper,the adaptability of grafted seedlings for the new disease resistant rootstock variety No.1,No.2,No.3,No.11,No.21,and No.31 was compared.The growth and development,yield,fruit traits and quality of the grafted seedlings in Datian were compared.Researches have been conducted to screen out suitable stock varieties suitable for industrial scale grafting and nursery.The main findings are as follows:(1)Comparing the growth index of plant height,stem diameter,root length and fresh root weight,dry weight,and surface area of the new rootstock varieties and local eggplant rootstocks,the six new varieties were better than the local eggplant rootstocks and three tomato varieties.The growth of plant height and stem diameter of rootstock varieties was significantly better than that of three eggplant stocks,and the root growth of No.3 and No.21 were the best in tomato rootstock and eggplant rootstock,respectively;7 stock varieties and cherry tomatoes,ordinary tomatoes were tested.The survival rate of grafting,with the exception of No.31,was 90%-95.23%and 85.71%-98.15%for other rootstocks,showing good grafting affinity;after rootstock grafting,the root weight,dry weight,and surface area of tomato rootstock were higher than those of eggplant rootstocks.high.(2)Grafting of cherry roots and grafted tomato cultivars was higher than that of self-rooted seedlings.The number of grafted seedlings No.3 and No.31 was significantly higher than that of self-rooted seedlings;the initial flowering time of grafted seedlings of tomato rootstocks.The fruiting habits and yield of flowering,fruit setting,and fruit number per plant did not differ from that of self-rooted seedlings,but the yield of grafted seedlings of eggplant rootstock decreased significantly,and the yield of eggplant rootstock variety No.31 decreased less;the fruit soluble content of eggplant rootstock grafted seedlings.The solid content,VC content and lycopene content were superior to those of tomato rootstock grafted seedlings.In addition to VC and hardness,other fruit quality such as bract character and single fruit weight were not different from self-rooted seedlings or were lower than self-rooted seedlings;,It is more suitable for cherry tomato rootstock varieties No.3 and No.31.(3)All tested rootstock varieties were grafted with ordinary tomatoes.No.2,No.3,No.11,and No.21 grafted seedlings were superior to self-rooted seedlings in plant height,shoot diameter,and number of leaves;except for native eggplant anvil,other stocks of rootstock were grafted.Grafting shortened the initial flowering time,increased the number of spikes per plant and fruit yield,of which No.3,No.21 and No.2 were significantly better than the self-rooted seedlings;grafting increased the content of fruit VC and lycopene,and the grafting of tomato rootstock increased.The titratable acid content of fruit,grafting of eggplant rootstock was slightly decreased;the fresh weight,length and width of the sepal were better than the self-rooted seedlings,and the 3rd,21st,and 1st were the best.Based on the above results,the varieties suitable for common tomato stock are No.3 and No.21.In summary,No.3 is suitable as a grafted rootstock for cherry tomatoes and ordinary tomatoes,No.31 is suitable as a grafted rootstock for cherry tomatoes,and No.21 is suitable as an ordinary rootstock for tomato grafting.
